4 – Fuck the Oscars

Fuck the Oscars

This is our first and only Oscars podcast. It’s a high school popularity contest where the richest producers decide the outcome. Find out why we loathe the Oscars and we reluctantly cast our votes. We apologize for the lack of enthusiasm! We will never do this again!!

Please check out the stuff near the end where we talk about important things like “Grand Piano,” a film worth tracking down On Demand.

Opening Song “I Left My Wallet in El Segundo” – A Tribe Called Quest
Closing Song “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song) – Oscar Isaac – Inside Llewyn Davis

3 – VFF Recap, Recent Films, Stars on the Rise

Hello friends!

Thank you for checking out The Green Screen of Death. We survived the 20th Annual Victoria Film Festival. We discuss our Top 5 films of the festival and talk about the worst. It feels good to talk about films we love but it also feels good to vent about the bad films we watched.

We also get into recent films we’ve seen such as: Vampire Academy, The Lego Movie, Monuments Men and Robocop.

Both of us are also disappointed with the current state of VOD (Video on Demand) in Canada. Bill has some passionate words to share about the films we miss here in Canada.

We also introduce a new segment to the show: Stars on the Rise and Stars on the Decline. Each of us present one of each.

Thanks again for listening!!

Opening song – “Kix” Beatdown Productions
Closing song – “Gypsy Heart” Rival Sons

2 – Jan/Feb Discussion and VFF Preview

Hello friends!

Thank you for checking out our show. Our first show was a bumpy road. The episode is bloated, we were nervous and ran out of gas about 1/4 of the way through the show. We return to the plate and we’re finding our stride.

This episode we talk about the films we watched in January and touch on films we’re going to see in February. We close with a discussion of Victoria Film Festival. It’s a solid festival to fill in the blanks for hardcore festival goers like us. This year VFF has brought in some great films, we agree the most anticipated film is Denis Villeneuve’s, “Enemy.”

Give us a listen and hit us up on twitter! Next episode we’ll check in partway through Victoria Film Festival or check in after the festival to wrap it up.

Opening Song – “Save You” – Pearl Jam
Closing Song – “5-Piece Chicken Dinner” – Beastie Boys

Top 10 Films of 2013

Thank you for checking out our new podcast! We failed to mention our good friends over at RowThree.com Their podcast is called “After the Credits” featuring Marina, Dale and Colleen. Without their podcast we wouldn’t be here. Bill has appeared as a guest host and is practically a festival reporter for After the Credits. Adrian has appeared there a couple of times. Please check out their show, we thrive to be just as entertaining and fun!

Our first episode covers 2013 in film. We talk about honorable mentions, worst films, top ten. For the bonus round we also talked about underrated films, posed three questions to each other, highlited two films (each) that you need to see in 2014 and we wrap things up.

This is our first attempt at recording a podcast on our own and we learned A LOT! We apologize for the length. This one is bulky because we had so much to cover in our first episode. Perhaps we should have broken it down into two episodes. It’s a learning process for us. To make things easier we have included a basic outline below along with the timeline if you want to skip certain segments of the show. You won’t hurt our feelings if you do this! (Don’t tell Adrian, he gets sensitive!)

1:54 – Introductions
7:20 – Why is this show called “The Green Screen of Death?”
10:25 – Outline of the episode
12:00 – Honorable mentions
18:20 – Worst films of 2013
38:10 – Top Ten
99:55 – Underrated films
105:20 – Three Questions – Best horror film not named You’re Next? Best performance nobody is talking about? Worst festival film that didn’t make the worst films list?
112:30 – Two films You Must See in 2014 – We each offer two films
119:10 – Closure

Opening Song – “Please Mr. Kennedy” – Justin Timberlake, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver

Closing Song – “King of Hearts Le Repos” – Georges Delerue

Thank you!!
